There comes a time in most peoples’ careers where they stop and wonder if what they’re doing is what they’re meant to be doing. For me that moment came more than half-way up the corporate ladder.
Years before I took the leap into the world of content creation and freelance journalism, I found myself drawn to creating content within my organizations. On top of managing teams and driving strategy, I’d find myself producing employee communications and building marketing campaigns designed to engage employees and boost the company’s brand.
Now, I get the opportunity to do something I love. As a content writer and chase producer, I get to be more creative with my writing. I get to research new and exciting topics and interview fascinating people. Working in a busy newsroom I work on a combination of hard news stories and features stories.
But I know I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for my past experiences. Working in a corporate environment for many years instilled an incredible work ethic within me, and I pride myself as someone who is willing to do whatever is needed to get the job done. My time in corporate also taught me the fundamentals of creating engaging employee communications and content. It’s these skills that I know I will use in all future employment opportunities.
As I journalist, I can ask the right questions, do the research and find the right words to bring your story to life. I’ve published several feature articles, produced over 50 news segments and helped create a video for a non-profit organization.
